It’s a beauty. Looks like a great bike. My guess is that it’s a 67 cm. Maybe a 69 and they measured Center to Center and called it 68? But it doesn’t look big enough to be a 69.

I think those were always odd sizes in the big ones, so I doubt a 68 was made. But who knows for sure?

I have before but not a bike. I asked a bunch of questions that led me to believe they were intimately knowledgeable of Rivendell and then used that to feel comfortable with the sale. A big bike purchase would be hard to trust on CL.

John not in my opinion. The Hunqa has a 6* upslope. Whereas the original AHH had almost a level top tube.

Length of tube and angles are just a few of the variables that change to make direct correlations not always likely.

Rivendell has lots of Geometry charts to search through and I recommend learning what key measurements mean the most to you and then trust yourself. Although almost everyone on this list helps with the best of intentions they might confuse you even further if you solicit the open opinions 👍

Two-part answer. If we are talking about the made-in-Japan or made-in-USA AHHs that one could see in the used market, the answer is:

No my guess is that you would likely ride a 65 cm AHH if you ride a 62 cm Hunq.

The AHH (Japan or US) has a more “traditional” top tube that slopes up 1.5 degrees from seat lug to head tube. The Hunqapillar’s analogous angle is 6 degrees. These extra degrees add a lot of handlebar height. My sizes in USA AHH and Hunqapillar are 65 cm and 62 cm respectively.

Part 2:

If you are looking at the new AHH that Riv sells, made in Taiwan, there is a good chance that its 61.5 cm frame will fit similar to the 62 cm Hunq. The made in Taiwan AHH has a top tube that slopes up 6 degrees from seat lug to head tube, like the Hunqapillar.

So if you’re ever looking at a Homer, make sure that distinction is clear.

The Homer is an amazing bike either way.

Thank you Ryan. Yes, I've seen a few of the geometry charts and one chart that seems to recommend different frame sizes based on PBH. Mostly, I was just curious how the bike measured up and definitely agree that the best thing to do is understand the geometry of my own bike and why I love the ride so much.

While I'm not in the market for a new Riv, I do like to keep up with what's posted here and should the right older bike ever come available I might jump on it. Knowing a little more about how the geometry of different frames compare will be helpful should this day arrive.
