Original parallel double top tube, ultra-spec'd Bombadil frame/fork/headset/bottom bracket for sale

Size -  56cm - I am a PBH ~90 and ride a 60cm Saluki, I find the Bombadil to ride nearly identical from a fit perspective with added top tube clearance of course.

Geometry - BB Drop 67mm / TT Upslope 6deg / Rear Hub Space 135mm / Approx Standover 85cm / ST Angle 72deg / HT Angle 71.5deg / Rake 5.2mm / TT 60.6cm / Chain Stay 45mm

Condition - Plenty of nicks and chips, chainsuck, the seat tube decal has a tear, dropouts are paint chipped, and one of the top tubes has some paint rubbed off.  That said it's a stunning color and constantly gets comments when I ride it, if I keep the bike it won't get a paintjob any time soon as the overall appearance is good (beasauge!).  No rust and to no structural concerns.

Tire Clearance - 650B x 2.25" knobbies without fenders, 650B x 48mm with fenders - may have some more capacity for a 50mm slick but I haven't tried, see the pictures below with the Compass SBH 48's and fenders.

Test Rides - If you are local to DC-VA-MD area I'd be happy to let you ride it as I have it built up currently.

Sale Includes - Frame, Fork, Headset (Tange, likely original), Bottom Bracket (Shimano, new <250miles)

Asking Price - $1,400 shipping included via bikeflights in lower 48, paypal f/f or cash in person

Options - I can spec out a nearly complete build if requested, as it is currently built I'd probably need $2,250 and buyer would pay shipping. Drivetrain is essentially brand new 3x8 speed shimano w/ a clutch RD and Silver shifters, brand new chainrings, chain, cassette etc.  Nobby Nics on Shimano LX hubs, synergy rims, Nitto RM013 dirt drops and the crown jewel - Bruce Gordon Canti's.

Hit me up offlist for offers, discussion and more photo's if interested.  If it matters, I'm only selling in pursuit of a ~3" tired bike to complement my Saluki and XO-3.  If I didn't have quite so much blood, sweat and tears into my re-painted Saluki I'd probably sell it and keep the Bombadil as it's more versatile but as it is the Saluki is perfectly dialed in for commuting, light off-pavement and rail-trail functions and I love my matching frame/fender paintjob.

Tony bought this frame from me (and I only sold it because I had TWO 56cm Bombadil!). It's a stunning bike, and when Tony says those high-polish Bruce Gordon are the "crown jewel", he's not kidding. They are wonderful brakes, and GORGEOUS!

Someone buy this before I give in and buy it myself!

Lovely bike!  I don't suppose you know the saddle height (bottom bracket to top of saddle in those pics)?

yeah always thought those brakes were neat looking...somebody on the bob list or somewhere ...can't remember ..said they had a neat Ming the Merciless look...which stuck with me

BG sure built some gorgeous bikes and his components are very striking too...

Nick, center of BB to top of saddle = 75cm.  It has a B67 saddle on there right now not the Rivet pictured, but I checked on my Saluki and had an identical 75cm saddle height (measured the same way) on that bike to so I'd say 75 is a pretty close figure.

Tom, it's a wrench even getting to the point of listing this gorgeous bike...  I've very much enjoyed my time with it and if it doesn't sell I'll get plenty of good riding in with it this year as well!

Tony,
I have always admired this bike. It is so strikingly good to look at in real life too! We have the same SH too! Hmmm!
Hope all is well.

Post weekend bump.  If it wasn't clear I'd be happy to entertain offers.  Thanks.

I've seen this bike in person a few times. can vouch it looks great. I didn't even notice any chips, I think the bike itself is so awesome it takes focus away from all of that. Great price for complete -- considering he's got the Bruce Gordon Cantis which I've always....

SALE!!! One of my target bikes came up at a tempting price, so long as it's available I'm motivated for a quick sale.

F/F/HS/BB - $1,100 to me... You pay the shipping.

Also happy to talk components.

Help me out this morning and we could both be very happy! :)

And SOLD.  Thanks for the interest.... REALLY, thanks for the sale.  I went on a hunch that the Bomba would sell at this price and went ahead and committed to buying a local used Jones+ 24" complete bike.  Money hasn't changed hands on the Jones purchase yet but it appears to be solid.

Now Saturday won't be as awkward with me adding a bike to the garage.  I'm sad to see the Bomba go but mostly grateful for the unbelievable introduction to singletrack riding it gave me.

Great news for all, it sounds like.  And boy, oh boy - just wait.  You're not even going to believe how much you like single track once you hit it with the Jones!

Tony,

Eventually I'd love to see that Jones in person, or maybe on our local trails.  I've had my eye on Jeff's bikes for a while but have never seen one in the wild.

Ryan,

I'd be happy to oblige.  I always enjoy meeting up with local Riv riders.  One of my anticipated disappointments (anticipointments) regarding the Jones is that coming back to this community with ride reports and pictures is pretty OT.  Not saying it won't happen once or twice of course!  Gotta have a Bombadil vs Jones post at least.

I've been incredibly curious about the Jones bikes for a couple years now, since before the Plus came out even.  Color me susceptible to good/fun marketing.  I would probably have settled for an extended test ride but this frame was too good an opportunity to pass up.  I did something similar w/ a Rawland rSOGN right before I bought Tom's Bombadil actually, only had it about 6 months and enjoyed it but not enough to keep me from going after the Bomba.

Once I've actually got it in my grubby paws and get to know it a bit I'll throw out some ride dates and see if we can get a group together out at Wakefield or Fountainhead...

Tony

i would also be interested! Since apparently this can fit a wide range of people. would be curious to see if that is true on the smaller end.
