Got RB841 back from painter Nathan Barnes of Pelham AL. Link to frame pics is below. Very nice job IMO using Amber Gold under clear. Turn around time was 3 weeks. I'll start dinking around with the re-build this weekend and add to the album, if anyone has an interest. This bike was purchased in late 2006 and I have 14,654 miles on it (it's one of several bikes I ride). I was very pleased with how good the insides of the tubes all look and the overall condition. Riv did a nice job on the tube spec and Toyo executed the work well. Just because it's bare naked now, I decided to WEIGH it. Using a digital scale, the 52 cm frame is 4 lbs, 8 1/2 oz. The fork is 1 lb 10 7/8 oz. I suppose if I had left off the 2 coats of clear, I could have shaved some grams ;). If anyone wants info on the cost, paint, painter, decals, etc just drop me a note fullylugged at yahoo.

Let me know if this one is better:

I used the "create link" function this time. Put the headset on yesterday afternon and re-united the fork and frame between the end of work and getting to a history class.

Fantastic! The replacement Ram logo looks very good too. Nicely done.

Doing the rebuild must be exciting. Have fun! Looking forward to the next round of pics.

Best,

That is a very, very nice paint job (and frame)!  I don't think I've seen a gold Riv before, but it works very well with the cream head tube.  Excellent choice.  Have fun building it, and of course riding it.  Steve

I took it for a shakedown yesterday and it was very sweet. Just a few little tweaks needed, but it's staying like this for a while. I moved the link to Flickr because Google is phasing photos out. Can't upload anymore. For those who are interested, the spec:

Headset, triple crank (52/42/30) Rear long cage derailler, BB: Ultegra
Brakes: Shimano A550
Front Derailler: Campy Mirage
Stem: Nitto Dynamic
Seatpost: Nitto Crystal Fellow
Bar: Nitto Mustache (upside down for more height.
Wheels: Shimano Tiagra hubs and Arraya non-machined rims
Cassette: SRAM 11-34
Tires: Panaracer Pasela 1 1/2"

Bruce, your Ram rebuild looks spectacular! Thanks very much for the progress reports.

What is the wheel size?

Thanks Rich. This is a 52cm frame and this size in a Ram came in 559 (26”) only.

Thanks to everyone for their nice comments and encouragements. Watch in a couple of weeks for my next project, the frame repair and repaint of my 1995 Riv Road Prototype. It came to me from this list in 2009 and I've put over 9K miles on it since then. It developed a partial circumferential chainstay (non drive side) crack. I sent a picture to GP who said it was very fixable, and he was correct. I pick it up on 2/23.

Bruce,
I think I remember you mentioning that you did the Hattie 100 ride in Hattiesburg, Mississippi last Spring. Wondering if you plan to bring one of your revitalized Rivendells down for that this year?
