Toshi, yeah, great write up and congrats on finishing the 600k. I
guess you earned your SR with that ride. Any more randonneuring plans
for the year?
Glad you're enjoying your Hilsen. It's a great bike for brevet riding.
Last weekend I finally made it across the border to ride with Seattle
International Randonneurs (SIR) on their Olympic Peninsula 600k. It
was a fantastic ride with incredible support at the SIR staffed
controls (1 each day with an overnight control). As usual, I rode the
first 100k way too fast and paid for that with cramps which eventually
subsided. Managed to get into the overnight control at 10:45pm and
asleep by 11:30 which allowed me a nice 5hrs sleep. I've come to terms
with the fact that I'm not willing or probably even able to ride
straight through. Besides, why not break it up into 2 nice long days
of cycling? The second day went well with no cramps and I felt really
strong through the entire ride. My Bryant randonneur worked well and I
feel pretty well prepared for the Cascade 1200k at the end of the
month. Here are some pictures:
