I wonder if it would be possible to retrofit a modern dynamo light
into this chassis:

I did a similar conversion involving epoxying a B&M light into an old carbide lamp. It worked, but I ran into a stumbling block trying to find a mount sturdy enough to hold the light (it's darn heavy). This light looks less heavy.

Some of the people building Randos, Periera, J. P. Weigle, and Dan
Polito, have been squeezing tail lights into old chassis. It may be
doable.

One problem with the head light is the better ones at least have
complex mirrors which focus the light properly. It may be hard to
transfer.

You could probably do it on a headlight. Wouldn't be as smooth
looking as a tail light. And probably more surgery involved.

Wouldn't be shocked if an E6 or similar would work better than an
LED. More a "normal" reflector pattern.

There is a Curt Goodrich locally that has a custom done tail light -
innards from a Supernova(not positive on that) in an old French
housing.

A conversion we did with some old French lights.

The old light housings contain Supernova lights now. The front light
was pretty heavy and cracked the LeFol fender a little. A sturdier
mount has since been added.

Someone in my rando club put the guts from a Planet Bike Superflash
into a Soubitez Catalux tail lamp housing. Looks pretty good.
