Would anyone out there be willing to share photos of their drop bar Hillborne or similar so that I can see cable routing? I think it'll prbly be self-explanatory once I get going, but it would be a big help to me to have a visual aid before I start. I'm using an older set of Shimano bar ends and a set of Tektro brake levers. I'd also really like to see closeup images of how to wrap the bars around a set of bar ends with the shift cable emerging.

I have done this project before on a different bike but it was some time ago and I seem to recall some trial and error which I'd like to avoid!

Thanks for any help!

Here’s my Homer Jeffrey.
I’ll look later to see if I have any closeups.

Beautiful bike @David Hays. I did find one good shot on the Riv website that I missed earlier. I'm especially looking for a head on view from the front if at all possible. Thanks again!

David, great looking AHH!
I’m also from Williamsville… so how do we get a Riv Ride for Williamsville/Buffalo Riv aficionados?

I ran my brake cables under the bar tape and am using down tube shifters.

Thanks Bob.
Sounds like a good idea. Do you know any other Riv people in the area?

Here's one of mine, from the side. I don't have a good front one without the bag in the way. I've been doing bar end cables loose like that for a while, but might go back to putting them under the tape, at least for the flat area of the drop. I have the bars up a bit on this one. On my periwinkle Sam, the stem is slammed a bit, and I use a noodle to transition the sharp angle to the hanger.

Here is a quick pic of my Hillborne in the chaos of my storage room with what I did - the housing is a little overly long, and I could have done with one or two less wraps over the housing, but I like this solution overall. I put a larger handlebar bag on (Fab's Chest Small) and left the cables long so they'd easily smush out of the way. I've also routed them fully under the tape before, and honestly that works totally fine and has a bit of a cleaner look, but this is a little simpler.

Keeping the housing fully outside the Newbaums, but wrapping some twine around the cable an inch and a half away from the shifter, might be my future plan. This way the housing is fully serviceable but still strain relieved.

A 20 year-old RAM—gliding along on 32mm Conti 5000s. Nice tires and grateful they're compatible.

Sweet riding machine.
