I had to buy a new can of shellac and the smallest size is a qt.  I only used half of a half pint last time so I have plenty.  Please let me know if anyone wants some.  My last can lasted 10 years but was getting thicker over the years.  It says not to thin it.  I tried but the results were bad.  I'm in Charlotte, NC.  I leave for Maine 6/27 and will be back 7/12 so I may not respond to messages when I'm gone.

I also have an abundance of shellac available for anyone in the NYC area.

Odd that it would say not to thin it, although I could see having issues trying to thin old shellac.

Shellac usually comes in a 3lb. cut and is generally thinned for everything from coating floors to doing a french polish.

For infrequent use, it is best to just buy the flakes and mix in small batches fresh as needed.

If you want to go nuts you can use aniline dyes or other methods to further color, but need to be careful on application as dyed shellac can leave streaks if you try and go back over your work.  Best to keep moving forward with dyes.

Good luck with the shellac share.  I still prefer it for my floors.

That may be the smallest size that was available on the shelf at your retailer, but Zinser Bullseye absolutely exists in a half-pint size.  The Newbaum's Shellac kit comes with the half-pint size, and Rivendell Bicycle Works sells that kit, in a cute box, so it can live on the shelf as a kit.
