I know the Road Link has been addressed here & there by the group - but thought it might be worthwhile to share my experience with mounting one on my Platypus.
The Microshift Advent 9 speed derailleur I was running shifted the 44/34/24 triple x 11-36 nine speed cassette flawlessl, but it was big, clunky and totally blacked out. Not even a hint of silver. My retro-grouch vanity took offense. 🥸
When I first built up the Platy I tried a Shimano Deore XT M739 that I've been using since the late '90s with an 11-36 eight speed cassette. Shimano specs the max cog at 32 with a 38t total capacity. Sure enough it didn't have enough B screw to run on the 36t cog.
I ran across the thing a couple of weeks ago while rummaging through the parts bin and decided to give it a try with a Road Link which I'd seen mentioned in a few threads on this group. It works perfectly with the 9 speed setup and.shows enough silver to look decent with the rest of the drivetrain
