Hey all!

First off, I am a certified Riv owner - I have a couple-to-a-few depending on when you catch me. One I want, badly, is a Hunq.

One hasn't materialised for me, and all leads ever have dried up. I'm also in the UK, and while I make it v easy to deal with me offering to collect its just not happened (yet - always looking if you have something my size - a 54 or 56!)

In the mean time, I took the extrodinary measure of learning to make and fillet braze a bike myself (at a workshop, not our kitchen this time)

If you're interested I'll post it once it's fully built up, but here it is as of today! I opted to clear coat it to keep my apprentice marks visible. I thought of a few good names for it, but for now my son has decorated it with ladybirds and rainbows so I'm calling it ladybird I think.

Currently mismatched wheels while I try to work out to run silver or black parts.

That's just splendid.  Please do post updates of your build.  I'd like to take a frame building class at some point.

Kudos! Did you copy the Hunquapillar geometry?

Yes, please do post photos of the finished bike.

That's incredible. I like the clear coat choice, too!
Please keep updating! I don't think you can overshare. That's really impressive.

That's one good looking frame, Saeed. Big fan of your day job stuff, too. ;)

I'll always vote for silver parts... but I admit that black would go just as well with that steel. Do keep us updated!

Saeed, nice work!!!  I love the visible brazing. Silver versus black - hmmm - maybe go full punk and opt for anodized colors?  I'm looking forward to seeing where you take the build..

Yes! Thanks all - going to finish the build tonight I think - or at least a V1!

Also luckily had a couple people reach out about Hunqs! Im ideally looking for the 56 if anyone is parting with one!

Yes - the geo is mostly as per the 54 hunq with a few small tweaks. I sort of wish I had done the 56 with 650b but I had a spare 700c wheelset at the time and Im holding out hope for a 650b 56 hunq to come my way one day so keeping that set for that.

I 'finished' the build today - really happy with it although I need to get a shorter stem as the 90-190 wont drop down enough. I'm also planning a longer stem hence the generous cables. Also need to pop on a basket etc but I was able to get to and from work and it rode like a dream. I only really made one mistake - the brake bosses are a little too high so these xtr ones are the only ones I could get to fit - even motolites couldn't go low enough. These came my way a few months ago and I wasn't sure what I'd use them on - honestly lucked out!

Thanks Sam for the comment! I couldn't help adding some naturally dyed beads to this. I popped a video on it here
