Has anyone found an elegant solution to deal with the interference issue between Motolite cable guides and racks that mount to the fork crown?

Love the rack and the brakes, just wish they would just play nice...

I don’t know of any V-brakes that play well with the Nitto 32f rack. I’d get a M18, M1B, Mark’s rack, or something similar, that has the separate stay for the fork crown.

I wish Nitto would combine the fixed stays of the 32F with the diving board plate of the Mark's rack.    Soma has a rack like that but it is rather chunky and heavy, not has pretty.  Soma Champs-Elysees Mini.

This was actually one of the reasons I decided to go with cantilevers, I love a fixed strut rack. Another option is to go with mini-v's, which would require different brake levers, and definitely foregoing any fender clearance options, amongst maybe the largest of knobby tires.

The Tumbleweed racks play nicely with the top-of-fork-crown eyelets that your Riv has. They look good in silver! IMG_3982.JPG

I experienced the same interference issue with the stock tektro vbrakes on my Clem.  I eventually measured arm lengths of all my vbrakes and found a set of old Avid vbrakes we had on another bike that had arms short enough clear the Nitto rack strut so we swapped brakes between bikes and I was able to install the 32f rack as desired.

I was otherwise planning around different rack options like the strut placement on the Tumbleweed but came up with the readymade brake swap solution before investing in anything else so it all worked out.  My longer term plan is to just switch to cantilever brakes with a set of shimano cx70 in reserve but kind of waiting on that swap until I wear something out and get motivated to do a full bar/lever/shifter/brake rebuild.

Like others mentioned, you're either stuck with a new rack or cantilever brakes. If you ever decide to run fenders on that setup, canti brakes are really your only option.

Most other v-brakes don't have as chunky a connection with the noodle, so you can sometimes thread the needle with the proper arm height to avoid the rack strut.

I’ve had success with a Nitto M18, Marks rack, and the Rat King RIP rack while using Motolites. All were set up with a diving board mount to the crown. Like others have mentioned, cantis are going to be your best option with a threaded direct crown mount like that.
