Like others mentioned, you're either stuck with a new rack or cantilever brakes. If you ever decide to run fenders on that setup, canti brakes are really your only option.
Most other v-brakes don't have as chunky a connection with the noodle, so you can sometimes thread the needle with the proper arm height to avoid the rack strut.Collin in Oaktown
