As a mini-project I bought some Riv wool felt "grips" and made them into replacement drop bar brake lever hoods for some nice 40-year old brake levers.  I think they turned out pretty well.  Have a look

Very nice. I bet they’ll wear in well.

Those are ingenious...and those were excellent  levers and brakes....came as OE on my late 80's Cannondale...good-looking and functional. Which bike?

That's my Gunnar custom Crosshairs.  It's functionally a single speed Sam Hillborne.

Thanks for sharing this mini-project. I could use new hoods, and I think I'll give this a try before buying a set.
