maybe it's just me or my computer, but it seems to me the photos or the approach to photos on the website leave something to be desired.

I know the bikes are gorgeous since I have owned a bunch. But the large thumbnails with the old world magnifier don't do them justice.

In this day and age should it not be really easy to post hires, large photos of your stuff in order to better advertise it and sell it.

Not a gripe but more curious and more a suggestion.

I agree, the zoom-in-ability of the photos is quite lacking.

I believe most of them are shot with film. Could be wrong though.

They used to have a lightbox plug-in (click on a thumbnail and a bigger images pop up within the same browser window) on one of the previous iterations of the site.

Looks like they traded that functionality for the ability to zoom in on the details of the pic at 100% of the image size.

This wouldn't be possible otherwise unless the image opened up full-size in the same or another browser window, which of course gets the visitor off the "Buy Now" page.

Using e-commerce sites like Shopify always involves a lot of compromise when you are dealing with all options across all devices.

I think these kinds of things should be mentioned directly to Rivendell, you should contact Dave, his contact info is on the staff page.

I agree, the photos are usually gorgeous, I'd love the option to easily open an HD version.

I was trying to order one day and ended up on the phone with Will and even he couldn't help me, because their computer had zonked.
They fixed it within 30 minutes, but I'm guessing they're keeping their bandwidth down by design to keep customer communications working better.

I gave up on posting pics on this site because my pics post upside down.
No one looks at those pics.
It doesn't happen on any other site.

John -

I think the original comment had to do with the photos on the Rivbike.com site - As far as sharing photos here, we used to have a high contingent of members who were also on Flickr. That has been recently bought by SmugMug and it might come back to usefulness, but even though I'd posted north of 5K photos there, I had fallen off using it.

I think one of the useful google-based tools is google photos, where you can create albums and then share those links publicly.  That would give you a more uniform presentation and likely prevent capriciously inverted photos.

It's free and dovetails rather seamlessly with your current google account.

Thank you. I have a Flickr account and will give Google photos a try also.
Thanks for reaching out.

I have been using Dropbox shared folders, which seems to work pretty well. For example:
