Who's going to the 2023 Nutmeg Country Spring Fling in May?

I've never done it but this might be the year! It seems like I might actually be able to make the drive up from Boston.

Debating which route to choose: ATB route with the fenderless Hunqa on 2.1" tubeless Thunderburts or Rando route with the newly appointed Bombadil on 2" Schwalbe Marathons and fenders?

Let me know if you're planning to go, I'd love to meet some folks from the group in person.

Just my humble opinion but if you are going to nutmeg country to ride you'd be missing out if you you didn't check out Ron's choice trails in the woods. After my first Nutmeg Nor'easter I'm fully sold on making the 9 hour drive up every year to ride those 300+ year old carriage roads and forest trails. Roads are roads, everywhere has them.

I unfortunately won't be making the spring fling, my spring/summer is pretty full already. Have fun out there!

Hey Max,

I'm planning on making the trip down from Portsmouth, NH and will attempt the ATB route.

Not sure if you remember, but I'm the guy who bought your Sam Hillborne back in February 2020. Still got it and it's still awesome!

Awesome! Based on J's post and the fact that you're going for the ATB route, I think I'm going to switch and do that with my Hunqa (I will need to reinstall my rear rack so I can bring a saddlebag on it)

Glad to hear that gorgeous black Sam is still bringing you joy - I love that color scheme and you can't beat a Sam...

I'm also considering the ATB route, not sure if I'm up for a full 50 miles, wondering if there are any bailouts?

I'm giving attendance some serious consideration and if I come up, I'll do the ATB route.

Scott — I think the road route for the 2023 Fling is considered the bailout option.

More on the routes here from the 2022 edition, which follows the same routes: https://ronsbikesblog.com/2022/04/03/2022-nutmeg-country-spring-fling/

Been mulling it over too Eric, but the drive up from Atlanta... little bit spicy!

Maybe some of us in this neck of the woods can put together some sort of Sou'Easter event that's similar?

Hi Drew,
Saw your post about a Southeastern ride - we've been talking on the forum about a Riv weekend in asheville July 7-9. Let me know if you're interested and we'll keep you posted on planning as it gets more dialed in.

I'm planning on riding the ATB route, albiet not on a Riv-ish bike but a vintage MTB. Coming from Boston so happy to carpool (drive or pay for gas).

Wow, this would be so cool - a Riv gathering @ a Nutmeg event. And the ATB option looks so good for a Gus. I would have to drive over from Toledo. But, I actually have another reason to be in Chester around that time. Hmm…

Hey Gary,

I saw that! I've got it on my calendar now. Let me know as I'd love to drive up and go on a ride with y'all.

I'm planning on going for the atb route, driving from NYC. I've got room for one more person+bike if someone wants to hop in for the ride.

I already have a bike camping trip with folks out at the Delaware Water Gap that weekend, otherwise would definitely go.  I am planning to go back for another Nor'Easter in October though - have had the calendar marked for that in ink!
