Last I heard Grant is visiting The Rose City on May 12, with a 2pm chat at Powell's (where else?) followed by a bicycle ride.
Who's in?

I was just in Powell's, and I mean about an hour or so, and saw Grant's name on the board for 5/12. Oddly enough I will be in the Bay area (and leaving for home) that day.

Missed again.

I got to spend several hours with Allan from Portland while here though. That was cool. Thx again Allan!

Aloha,

Bob - who is headed to RBW while Grant is away.

Unfortunately I'm working that day. Bummer. I'm hoping to be in the
Bay Area in Aug and will plan on visiting RBWHQ.

I'm in. This should be a great day. The Oregon Randonneurs are doing a
100K populaire that day - leaving from Velocult and ending there.
Grant at 2 at Powells, then ride at 3, ending at...Velocult. Sky from
Velocult is offering inside parking for Rivs and Bridgestones as a
kind of group show/display, and is advertising the rest of the evening
as "get drunk with Grant" night. And Sky's buying the beer for anyone
who joins the BTA that night.

I've been working on freeing myself from a conflicting obligation, but It's looking like the obligation will win this time.

Thanks for the kind words Bob, not that you had any choice ;-).

For those unaware, my side-job is retrieving self-supported cyclists from the hinter points of Oregon and returning them to the friendly bike lanes of Portland proper (http://www.PortlandSagWagon.com).

And best wishes on the remainder of your Piecific Coast Tour. Not a typo, see http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?o=1&doc_id=10437&v=1B thin Riv content, but a pleasant read nonetheless :-).

Riv content: I'll be at Powell's in bells and spangles! Well, not me personally, my bike.

You're welcome Allan. I'd have been happy to meet you even if we weren't involved in a return from a hinter point. :-) I suspect you a nice guy even if you aren't being paid. :-)

As for me...I spent the day in Walnut Creek and discovered that Grant was in town. I got to meet him in person (had spoken and emailed in the past) and picked up a paper copy of his book - autographed even.

He was having a busy day as some photographers were there for something else that's coming up.

I picked up a couple other things as well which I'll mention in another thread.

Then I rode off for a nice easy 15 miles of noodling around on a really hot (after last week on Oregon) day.

Aloha,

Bob
