It looks like Riv has switched their website again.  It looks the same but different.  The big loss is staff bikes, but I expect that will be back eventually.

They should have an owners' bike page.

Where they could feature a few owners bikes from all over tge world. Rotate monthly.
Then people could see all the different and interesting ways Rivendells are used outside of the Creek.

YES!!! This is the best idea! Someone from Rivendell, jump on this! What fun.

Lum, I like that idea a lot. But, being a former web dev proj mgr, Riv would need someone to devote time in setting it up but also in being an admin to watch post, just like Cyclofiend and other image based sites. I think Cyclofiend prob has more Rivs posted than any place else (0r maybe I'm just giving away my age).

Let's face it, a whole bunch of us old dudes don't want to deal with Facebook, Instagram or any such hoopla. Some of you are good at posting photos on Flickr once in a while.

Yep, it's the admin aspect, regular vigilance and all that to keep thinks from getting out of hand, just like the moderators do here on RBW and iBob.

In other words, an image sharing forum would be great, but can only be as great as the people moderating what is posted and maintaining some level of standards.

Just my two cents worth,
Cheers,

No i mean a person coukd email an entry with pic and rbw decides whos pic and description they post on rivbike.com each month

Tgey post their own bikes, why not a pic and descrip emailed to them from a customer.

I've always wanted a history section with retired models. Maybe just import the cyclofiend site which I still reference and enjoy.

Interesting to see two iterations on the website in a relatively short amount of time. I wonder if they're using the same backend, and if the most recent changes were driven by data or just a switch in platform.

Overall, I like the new site even more than the most recent version. Agreed that a "history" section and a "Owner's Gallery" (a la Surly's website) would be cool.

Surly's site w/ their "Image Dump" is a great feature.

The @rivbike Instagram is used for this purpose - it's not solely owner bikes, but there's a good deal of Rivs in use on there.

Why not start a list thread: "Post photos of all your current Rivendells, with build descriptions."

Here are mine, which I've posted thousands of times, but you get to see them again.

Is there an accepted collective noun (murder of crows, pod of whales, etc.) for a group of Rivendells? If not, I would propose "fellowship" of Rivendells in keeping with the Tolkien theme.

I think a pride of Rivendells is certainly apt....or  maybe an exaltation of Rivendells

I just googled this but I remember reading Conan Doyle's White company trilogy; especially Sir Nigel when he's quizzed about hunting terms by his true love;s father

Slightly OT but fun anyway if you love language...as I do

I really like the sound of a Fellowship of Rivendells:  "The autumn tour attracted a variety of bicycles including a Fellowship of four Rivendells."  But I suppose it could sound a bit Precious to some folks.  Cheers, Steve

Another loss is the size of the images. They can no longer be enlarged just zoomed in on. Personally I miss the larger images.

Same here, I also miss the larger images and I always use that feature.
