Hi Everyone,

Anyone have experience fitting a Rod Steward bag support to a Sam or a Clem? Curious how long the supporting arms need to be and how seamless installation is. My saddle height is 76cm and bars are about level.

Thanks!

Franco, I don't have experience with the Rod Steward but have put together my own knock off version.
To determine the length of the struts I suggest you mount the bag you intend to use and then measure the distance from the attachment points on the fork to the bottom of the bag, with the bag positioned at your desired angle.

I have run a Rod Steward on my 54cm Gus. I’ve only used it for the front, though. If you need to trim the struts, you trim from the bottom, where the clamps mount to your braze-ons, rather than the opposite (top) end, like you would with Nitto struts. I trimmed mine maybe 1/4”, but didn’t really need to… it was just for aesthetics. My guess is, you may want to trim more off the length if you’re going to be using it as a rear saddle bag support… but I’d definitely test fit it - and you can always reach out to Sal with questions about fit for a specific application.
