I’m looking for a way to carry bulky keys when my riding apparel does not have the pockets it ought to have (street pants and shirt, for example) without dumping them into the obscure and inaccessible bowels of my Ortlieb seat bag.

I’d much prefer something very tiny but sturdy with a secure zipper closure that can clip to the webbing of the Ortlieb or to a saddle rail with a carabiner hook* or something similar.

A less desirable alternative would be a tiny barrel bag that straps to the handlebar and does not measure much more than 5-6” wide and 2-3” in diameter. The RH small handlebar roll bag at 7.5” X 3.4” is bigger than I need.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

Thanks, all. Jeff, I have a bunch of keys to different locks besides my deadbolt lock and I often clip on other things like a mini- 1-AAA flashlight.

I had a very similar small “gas tank” bag but I’d like to avoid another separate piece of bike luggage.

The Berthoud bags are very nice but the bar bag is too big and the other needs access to the saddle rails already occupied by the Ortlieb seat bag.

I suppose I could just clip the keys to a belt loop when I’m wearing pants that  have only the typical 2 side and 2 rear pockets (all already occupied with other things) and I may just do that.

I may try finding a small zippered leather pouch and sewing a carabiner onto it that I can attach to the external webbing on the Ortlieb bag.

Or, I could just replace the Ortlieb bag with a Barley — just got one for the gofast and it’s a very useful size at 9 liters but with 2 small side pockets.

If these were half the actual size of 10 3/4” X 7? they would be fine:

Does anyone want to trade a Revelate Viscacha or that Ortlieb seat bag for an as-new Barley with suitable cash added to the appropriate side of the balance scale?

Well, the carabiner-to-belt solution seems to be the obvious, easiest, and cheapest one. At least, it worked this morning and didn’t even jingle over bumps as long as I clipped the C to a belt loop on the side instead of in the front — when clipped to a front loop it jingled continuously. OTOH, the damned carabiner did get caught in the threads at the back of the belt loop and required fancy extrication.
