Hey there—

I am after a set of albatross bars. Does anyone have a used pair available? Or can anyone recommend a similar alternative? I like the albatross for its slight rise, multiple hand positions, and nice shape.

I considered riv's billie bar, but I think it has too much sweepback for me and is more than I'd like to spend.

I am hoping to find a more upright position on my '84 Schwinn Voyageur without spending too much. The top tube isn't that long, so I need to be careful to select a bar that won't hit my knees or thighs.

Any leads or suggestions would be appreciated!

I have a nitto mustache on a nitto dirtdrop stem that I'd be willing to let go of for $50+shipping and fees from CT.
you can probably flip the bars over to get the rise you're looking for.

As someone who has changed bars more than I would like to admit, you may risk falling down a rabbit hole with this one. You can look here if you find something online and wonder how it may compare. Soma and VO also have some options that may be priced less. Not sure what your budget is but maybe someone can hook you up from this group. The Albatross bars are one of my favorites!

I have a silver Soma Oxford I'm not using. It's nearly identical to the Albatross.

I also have a Nitto Albastache bar. Which is a but inbetween a Mustache and Albatross bar, but takes road levers (23.8mm)

When supply chain troubles during the pandemic prevented me from getting some Albatross bars, I found the Soma Oxfords to be just about a clone:

The cromo version is widely available from many online retailers like Modernbike, Performance, etc.

I have a cromo albatross but unless you live close by shipping would be a killer. I am in western MA.

Thanks all for the recommendations and comments! A list member had a set of albatross bars that he just sent to me. I will share a photo when they are mounted.

Maeve, good luck with your search. It seems like there are a lot of great options.

Howdy folks.

I have a cro-mo Albatross somewhere, I also have a couple of what Rivendell used to sell as the “Dove bar”. I believe they’re a bit smaller than the Albatross, and they’re aluminum. They were not made by Nitto, not sure who made them (maybe they’re marked).  I know exactly where the Dove bars are, let me know if any of y’all want any measurements or anything. I’m not exactly sure where the Albatross is, might not be the one for you if you’re in a hurry…

Regards, Doug

P.S.  99% sure all the bars are 25.4mm diameter, also I get crazy good,FedEx rates so shipping shouldn’t be bad…

The Dove bar was also Nitto made but in addition to being slightly smaller they also did not accept bar end shifters like the Albatross did

The albatross bars have been received and installed! Here are some before and after photos. I bought this Schwinn Voyageur ('87?) in Traverse City, MI in 2023 from a guy who had at least one Riv hanging in his garage (he may be in this group…). I’m now in the Bay Area, and I use the bike to commute every day and ride around the Santa Cruz Mtns.

The swept back bars and wheel+tire swap from an old bike make this an even more enjoyable ride.

Thanks again for the parts!
