Dustin and Esteban were cycling machines.
I'm still traveling for a week with no computer so my photo uploads will be delayed a bit. But I'll report on that day (I was only on the last day of the tour) and a neat little Amtrak-trick I learned.
Thanks Mike for all the route planning, and to Doug, Mike, Chris, and Tim for the Refugio advice and info.

My hovercraft is full of eels
Gayle's is a bakery & deli strategically located two miles north of
New Brighton State Beach, close enough so you can ride over and set up
at the campground, go to Gayles for dinner, then go back the next
morning for breakfast & pick up some sandwiches and treats for lunch--
something I have only done twice. Twice in the last two weeks, I mean.
Gayle's superb deliciousness makes it a worthwhile day trip for me
too: eighty or ninety miles round trip is nugatory to get to this
temple of culinary delights. The boysenberry turnovers are
magnificent, and the breakfast burrito with bacon and potatoes goes
well with latte for breakfast. OK, I have to admit that I've ever
eaten there was wonderful, and I intend to continue my research at
every opportunity.

There's a terrific dirt road, Gazos Creek, from the coast all the way
to the Park Headquarters in the eponymous big basin.
