Anybody got the low down on what's happening with the bars in this picture?

Looks like a bullmoose version of the albatross, or the new bar under development.  Is this going into production?  I'd been kicking myself for not getting a pair of the bullmoose before they became a "vintage" item, but if these are coming down the pike, I'm excited!

Hi Jeremy,

I remembered Grant mentioning something about this, so I dug around the Blug a bit and found this:

In the third to the last paragraph, Grant mentions that there will be a bullmoose version.  It looks like its prototype has come to fruition.

Good find Geoff, I had a recollection but couldn't find it.

I imagine a big galoot might be able to make the new bar slip in even the mighty jaws of a Nitto.  Even if that's impossible, it's easy to believe the flex might be enough to put some people off.  Bullmoose version reduces the chances of both.

The Bullmoose "one size fits all" approach makes sense. The modus operandi for this bar seems to be "stick a really long stem out there because the massive reach is gonna work for just about everybody". Might as well just buy the long stem/bar as one piece, and enjoy the triangulation.

The bar that's coming on the new bike is one that Grant said had a couple of variations in the works. This is probably one of them. I hope it ends up being this way. I love the Bullmoose.

I love the Bullmoose.

I do, too. I missed the sale, but scored a new 200mm Bullmoose on Ebay for the same price yesterday. We'll find out if long-stem/much-sweep-back works for a little guy shortly...

Hey, Joe, would you report back on that, please?

I'm more excited about the knife bike attachment! I sure hope that
becomes a Rivendell product!

Ok, here's more official and specific info on the Bullmoosey NewBar:

Pics of the bar are near the end of the article.

As I told Vince at Riv HQ, today- "I want!"

Yep! I have a project which is absolutely crying out for these bars (moosey). Waiting till March is going to be tough. Sigh.

As great as either of those names might be, I see possible copyright problems with both.  Joe Palooka was a comic strip (I'm not quite that old, but I just went to WiKi).  So Grant will keep us speculating for a while longer.  Cheers, Steve

I'm a bit confused,I know the"moosey" version has to be built with a
stem, will the othe version also? Is the non-moosey version being
made with or without the stem?

My understanding is that non-moosey is also chromoly but without the stem, like the prototype we've seen on the Rosco Bubbe bike.

Hi Marc,

Jeremy's correct.  The "non-moosey" version will be handlebar only, like an Albatross, Mustache, or Noodle.  So, if you've got a bike with, say, an Albatross bar and are considering replacing it with the "non-moosey" NewBar(or whatever it'll end up being called), the stem you've got on the bike now should work just fine.

I'm seriously considering replacing the Bullmoose bar on my Hunqapillar with the "moosey" version of the NewBar.  It looks great, I love the triangulation the extensions form, and it'll give me a little bit more of an upright ride that I couldn't get with the Bullmoose bar.

I think you'll want a longer stem for a NewBar. There's some serious reach on that thing.
