Someone is selling their Atlantis on Craigslist - it has 26” wheels (in the photos and description) but the frame size is listed as 50cm ... I thought only the 47cm frame has 26” wheels, is that right or is there some way a 50cm frame would have 26” wheels?

Hoping it’s actually a 47cm so I can get it for my shortie / wife.

The original Toyo-built Atlantis was available in 47, 51, 53, and 56cm sizes with 26" wheels. I'd wager it's a 51cm that the seller is measuring the seat tube center-to-center.

The MIT 50 is 26", the Rivbike site has it designated wrong on its frame page. See the Garage Sale frame.

That Craigslist price dropped this morning, go get it right now!

Ha, I had noticed that the 50cm was listed as 26" in the geometry page, but 650B on the frameset page.  I emailed Will about the discrepancy a little while ago, but hadn't heard back about it.  Now I know the truth!

Well, I guess I would have lost that wager! I took another gamble and looked at San Francisco CL, and there it was in "nearby areas"! Yep, MIT 50cm Atlantis.

Update after chatting with Will on the Rivbike Instagram PM: Both exist. The Craigslist and Garage Sale bikes are 26", the newest batch of 50cm Atlantis are 650B 👍

Great sleuthing everyone! I emailed the seller and they referred me to the geometry page as well and told me it’s a 2018 bike.

Can anyone advise me on the correct PBH range for that model? If it’s a fit I’ll be driving to Santa Cruz ASAP!

Thanks for the quick work everyone!

Abe, here's the PBH chart (which is harder to find on the site than it should be). Minimum PBH is 80cm, minimum saddle height 69cm (assuming 170mm cranks). It would fit me great at 5'-6" with Albas or Boscos.

I'm going to convince my wife to remeasure her PBH in a bit, but I strongly suspect this is a bit too big for her (5'2", PBH TBD).

Oof, I believe you are correct. A 50cm Cheviot or 45cm Clem L might be the ticket for her if she's looking for a Riv.

PBH 73cm means no luck with the 50cm Atlantis =(
Seller is very pleasant and helpful, someone should get this bike including the nice dynamo and light: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/bik/d/santa-cruz-2018-rivendell-bicycle-works/7106843471.html

So now I'm in the market for a 47cm Cheviot (listed on the geometry page but not as a frame option on the sales page?) or 45cm Clem L.

Thanks for all the help, hopefully someone else picks this up.

Ah, good catch on the 47cm Cheviot. We're expecting (info via Leah Bicycle Belle via Will @ Riv) a redesigned/updated version around August.

I'll chime in and say that I rode a 50 cm Atlantis at Riv last spring, but I'm not sure what the wheel size was. My PBH is 78-79 cm, Will said he would recommend the 47 cm for me, but they didn't have one built up to ride.

The 50 cm felt great to me, I'm sorely tempted by that CL listing. My issue is that I already own a Surly Disc Trucker, that has a large amount of overlap with the Atlantis. I'm sure I'd like the Riv better, but am having a hard time justifying the new purchase.
