Hey all,

Been meaning to post some pictures of our rides on film from the last year. Our first year living and running our own business in San Luis Obispo has been busy and hasn't awarded as much time to ride as we would like, but I am always thankful when we do make it out.

Hope everyone is having a good week! I'd love to see some of your film pictures from rides!

(All photos are taken on my Chinon 3001, a point and shoot SLR from the late 1980s/early 1990s).

Spring, 2021. Modesto, California. This one is from Easter weekend 2021 when we picked up the Platy at Riv HQ! We waited patiently until we got the green light to come pick it up, and as always had such a nice time seeing our Riv employee friends!

Autumn, 2021. Berkeley, California. The last photo of Jared's Hunq before he and Alex stripped down their bikes and traded frames.

First ride to the GF bakery in Oakland with the Cheviot! Jared is in a position I often do when bombing hills. It makes me feel like I'm flying and plays into the whimsical nature of riding a Rivendell.

Autumn/Early winter 2021, San Luis Obispo. Riding through the construction zone Sunday shortcut.

I like how to green of the Cheviot looked with the green hills beyond. Such a lovely color for a bike.

Laguna Lake Park, San Luis Obispo, California. Same ride.

This camera has a great self timer function, if we are lucky enough to stumble across a fencepost or sign to set the camera on that has decent height so that we may both make the shot. I think that this one came out pretty well.

Last ride of 2021 (except not really because we took another ride later that night!) New Year's Eve, 2021. Edna Valley, California.

Spring, 2022. Tried to ride through the construction zone shortcut after the heavy spring rains and the Platypus sunk right in! I didn't anticipate it at all and pulled the bike (and myself) out of the mud and walked around. I couldn't go the high route that Jared did to avoid all mud due to my clumsiness, so I would up in the mud. All in good fun. San Luis Obispo, California.

We made it.

Spring, 2022. Winter citrus still flourishing. Downtown San Luis Obispo, California.

This year I am looking forward to the tandem rides on our wedding gift to ourselves, an orange Hubba Hubba (still at Riv HQ). I'd love to see other Rivs on film! What cameras are members bringing on rides?

Is that a very early barndoor Type II?

This was such a fun thread. Thanks so much for the photos and stories. That’s the winning combination. I love that you are a mixte family!

Laing,

The Volkswagen is from 1958, so post barndoor (3/50 thru 3/55) but still "early" but most standards.

Thanks for taking notice.

I'm originally from Arroyo Grande but moved to the Bay Area before I really got into riding. These photos are making me homesick and now I really want to take a trip down to go hit some trails on my Sam. Where are y'all usually riding?
