Hello all.

I know this has been talked about before, but I can never seem to find the details I am looking for when searching. I ride a 54 Hunqapillar. If I were to look for a Toyo Atlantis, or other shorter wheelbase Atlantis before they got stretched, what year/era/size would be a similar fit that also has 700c wheels? Or do i need to search for a 650b? My PBH is a 85-86.

Thank you! Jeffrey

Hey Jeffrey,

I think the jump happened from the 2017 to 2018 model, but I think they went from 26" wheels to 650b's in that size range then.

I've got a 56cm from 2018 and it's 650bs with an 835 listed stand over. I think it's the first frame with a longer Chainstay(525mm). Find the Geo comparisons here

Also, here's Grants Blahg mention on the "new" geometry.

With your PBH, you could very likely comfortably ride a 58cm Toyo Atlantis with 700 wheels. The 56cm size with 650b would likely work for you too, but those were produced for such a short period, they are quite hard to come by (I tried for 2-3 years to find one myself to no avail). My PBH is 83, and while I can technically ride a 58cm Toyo, the standover is just a tad high for me to be comfortable on it. I know from experience because I have a couple of friends who are a couple inches taller than me who own 58s, and I have taken them for test rides. For reference, I am 5' 8", and my friends who own 58cm Toyos are both around 5' 10" tall.

I forgot to mention, my friend who has a 58cm Toyo (he's a group member here as well) also rides a 54cm Hunq.

Brian's real world advice is definitely a better reference point than bike insights' numbers alone!

That being said, If a 56cm 650b Atlantis is interesting you can email me off list if you'd like to trade for that 54cm Hunqapillar, Jeffrey!

Thank you all! Will look into testing out an older 56cm 26" Atlantis.

I have both, a 58 Atlantis and a 54 Hunqapillar. My pbh is 87. I can stand over the Atlantis but the bar is right  at the crotch. The Hunqapillar has more stand over clearance and I’m more comfortable riding it off road.

I have a 56cm Toyo Atlantis and a 58cm custom road bike (like a Rambouillet or Long-Low), and the fit is almost exactly the same on both bikes. If I'm wearing shoes, then I will clear the top tube, but only just.  That is with 26x1.75"/42mm Paselas on the Atlantis and 700x32mm Gravel Kings on the road bike. My  PBH is 85.

I have never ridden or straddled a 58cm Toyo Atlantis, but I seem to recall that some old geometry chart listed the minimum PBH as 84.

5' 11 here on 56cm 26" Toyo. With 2.1 tires standover is ~33". Coincidentally, I have a 58cm 700c Toyo as well (went thru this same quandary, lol) and can say that standover is iffy for me with anything bigger than a 42c tire. May move the 58cm frameset along at some point... --Nick
