Hello everyone!
Well, after about a 16 month, torrid, love affair and a good amount of hemming and hawing, I think I need to part with this Riv Custom Road bike and my Quickbeam. They are both available for trade.
Components and specifics of Road:
Frame built by Joe Stark Paint by Joe Bell Feb 1999
VO Drillium 48/36 172.5 Crank
SunTour Cyclone shiny Deraileur (Saw somewhere it's still the lightest modern deraileur or some such nonsense?)
11/32 9sp Cassette
Silver2 shifters
Matching Lugged Setback Seat Post and Stem
Black All Weather Brooks Saddle
Paul Racer brakes in black with silver adapter
Tektro black hoods levers
Nitto Rando bars 46mm
36h Phil Wood wheels 100mm Front 135mm Rear (Rear Frame Dropouts 132.5mm, btw)
Panaracer Pasella 32mm Tires
Components and specifics of QuickBeam:
2004 OG
Green
Panasonic Factory Brazed
Riv Double Crank 39/32 178mm
16t freewheel Yellow SS chain
Nitto stem
Lugged setback seatpost
Brooks well loved saddle, maybe I should swap it out for something else? We can talk.
Paul Canti Brakes, Drillium brown hoods
32h Phil Wood hubs High Flange 100mm Front 120mm Track Hubs
Sun CR18 Rear Rim and A Velocity A23 Black front
Schwalbe g one all around 35mm rear tire, Specialized Trigger 38mm front
I cracked the front CR18 rim a few months ago and gashed the
tire. My LBS gave me a deal on a Velocity A23 they had sitting in their
rafters. So I built it back up and put on a tire I had laying around. They don't match, and to some that is sightly.
I'm looking for, pretty sure at least,
an Appaloosa, Atlantis, Hunq, Platy, Cheviot, Clem L, Gus/Sus, in the
57-59mm range. Let me know what you've got!? I'd also consider a Crust
Evasion, Bombora...
I'm happy to assist in coordinating and splitting
the cost of shipping.
I am interested in trading or a combo of trade and cash, (I guess I'm open to offers of purchase but think it sure would be neat to work out a deal with someone looking for some rad road oriented bikes?) I am looking for something fair and even as possible for all parties but could very well be open to a 2 for 1 swap for the right bike. What I am looking for I think is a swept back fatter tired geared Riv, I need less reach, more upright, geared for big climbs and dodging chunky dirt and rock.
The Quickbeam is the most comfortable bike I had ever been on,
until recently, but alas the single (2) speed is just not enough for the
Ozark hills around me. Realistically neither bike has tires wide enough
to deal with the gravel roads around here.
This custom road
(custom for someone else in 1999) is a rocket ship but it just stretches
me out too much, I want to want to ride it, and I love it, but I really
love to stare at it more than I love to be on it, if I'm really to be
honest.
Above and below I have pasted links to the photo album with what I hope are ample photos of both bikes. I will happily take more photos as well as answer any questions, of course.
Everything will get a fresh bath before packing to ship, btw.
Along with geometry for the QB, highlighted is the size 58 (57mm top tube). I have held up a tape measure best I can for measurements of the Road bike, it is a pretty standard 58^2 nearly level, if not completely level, top tube. I'm 6'1" 89pbh and the Road bike is a little long for me, but I seem to be sensitive to long reach.
I had discussed with some folks on this list about selling this bike a month or so ago, I am not interested in breaking these bikes down and parting them out or just selling the frames, as of now. If I get no interest, then maybe I need to consider that route and buy the last 59 Susie frame on the site....?
It's a lot of info here but I am sure I have missed something so, please feel free to contact me with any questions or offers.
Thanks and Cheers!
