This is well outside the style of bikes and riding we discuss around here but I wanted to share a video I've enjoyed. Forgive me if this has been discussed or shared before.
It's from Safa Brian, a former bicycle messenger with a popular cycling YouTube channel. And you might have seen in some of Terry B's videos (also NSFRBW). The video collects some of his long descents from a trip to Switzerland in 2022.
There are beautiful vistas, impressive roads, cows, bridges, cobbles, fog, mist, chateaux, tunnels and stunning mountains. There is crazy speed, carbon bikes, dangerous maneuvering, fast music and a crash.
I've watched this twice in the past few months and find it totally mesmerizing, it's a blast. I've read about all of these passes in Jobst Brandt's alpine ride diaries so it's nice to have some moving pictures of these places.
At over twenty minutes there's plenty to see and there are some nice scenes intercut with what looks like 8mm film footage and alpine b-roll.
Too crazy for you? A fun viewing experience? I don't think I'll ever ride anything like this but I've found it a real pleasure to watch.
