I didn't ride my Riv, but I was on lugged steel and leather, with friction shifting and freewheel! 304 miles in two days, unsupported and solo (kind of a "Above"24H ride).  Photos here:

I plan to ride the same bike--1980s Benotto with Campy Record and Rally equipment.

I love it, but it just goes to show that a setup that was functional in 1980 is just as functional today.  Well done!
