Was wondering what this would look like!

Wood and wings are a go. I used 30mm long bolts due to additional length.

Thanks for posting this pic. I didn't know that Rivendell had the Grip Monarch/King pedal wings made and in stock. Been waiting for them to mount on the Grip Kings I have. Went ahead and ordered the Silver 2 shifters and mounts while I was at it. Should be here tomorrow.

Thanks,

Reginald Alexis

Related story from way back when:  I made my own and made a youtube about it.  This was back in 2011, it looks like.  Here is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wo0YlOqqISs

My late father made some tooling for a batch-fabrication setup and we made and sold ~10 sets.  That may have been in 2013 or so.  I inherited that tooling after he died, but the process needed a lot of tweaking, so I ended up decommissioning the tooling he made.  I think it would have been a good job for a laser or water-jet cutting shop.

The wings ought to work just fine on the non-monarch models as the only difference, as far as I'm aware, is the addition of the pins from the factory rather than diy. The construction of the pedal appears the same, and it would be silly to change it.

I never gave these a second though as-is because they're very narrow, not for large feet with shoe soles that are 4-3/4" wide. I'm curious what the overall width and length of the platform with the wings installed is, and so I'll have to Riv to find that out. I mean, it would make too much sense to simply measure it and post it on the sales page.... sigh ..... laughter ......but that all makes sense ..... nonsense will never make sense.

I don't really understand modding a pedal when there are so many stock pedals that will work without modifications. It's one thing if the pedal market is devoid of a good pedal but there are tons of great light and large flat pedals with good grip.

My guess is that it's meant for people who already have these pedals and desire something a bit longer and wider. Judging by the photo I don't think there are too many quality pedals that are as long as these modded ones.

Hmm, seems like satisfying my curiosity will cost about $15!

I have two sets of Rivendell Grip King/Lamda pedals. Bought them on the presale years ago. Got the  Pedal Wings last week and mountedthem on both sets of pedals. They fit just fine. have not ridden them yet. The Grip Kings worked well for me on the Bontrager Race single speed I have them on. That bike is my jump on and ride, no fuss bike. In the initial build this bike had some Onza H.O. pedals, then swapped to some VP rat trap type BMX pedals that I salvaged and swapped the 1/2" axles out for 9/16" ones from some broken plastic/nylon pedals.

I recently bought the MKS Monarch pedals wings; the side extensions,  for my MKS Lambda silver pedals. Looking forward to putting them on my Clem Smith Jr. "L" bike.  I, also, bought from Rivendell Bicycle Works a 32 pack of pedal spikes.
