Hi Bunch,

We are preparing for yet another move across country, and it is time to let some of my bicycles go.  I have included a brief description of each, links to current pictures, links to general frame info, and a spreadsheet of components.  Please feel free to ask any questions. Buyer to pay for actual shipping. Shipping through BikeFlights.com unless other arrangements are made.

Rivendell Rambouillet - 56cm - $1000

I am the second owner of this bike.  I bought it off eBay from a RBW owners bunch list member.  The bike is in overall great shape and has been well maintained.  There are no dents or dings, but there are some small paint chips and a few drops of shellac.  It is a really nice build with all the Dura Ace and Nitto bits. Saddle not included, but I will include bar end shifter pods for the Silver shifters and the downtube cable stops.

Pictures here.

More info here.

Rivendell Bleriot - 57cm - $1050

I am the original owner of this bike, having bought it when Rivendell discontinued this model.  I got it to explore the 650b wheel size and rode Grand Bois Hetres tires for most of the time I’ve owned it.  I will also include some Schwalbe fatties that were great for rough stuff in CO and UT desert. The current Compass Babyshoe Pass tires have less than 20 miles on them.  The bike is in overall great shape and has been well maintained. There are no dents or dings, but there are some small paint chips and marks. Nice bits include the Paul Racer brakes, SONdeluxe dynamo hub, B&M light, and Velo Orange front rack.  Saddle not included.

Pictures here.

More info and geometry here.

Rivendell Quickbeam - 56cm - $900

I bought this bike new from Rivendell and used it as my daily commuter in Denver. Like my old Atlantis, the QB has all the braze-ons for the useful racks, bags, and kickstands necessary in a commuting machine.   The bike is in overall fine shape and has been well maintained. There are no dents or dings, but there are some small paint chips and marks. Most notable are the smudged downtube decals. SONdeluxe dynamo hub, B&M light, kickstand, fenders with new uncut stays, brand new brake levers, and freewheel and fixed cog included.   Saddle not included.

Pictures here.

More info here.

Surly Krampus - small - $950

I bought this frame new and built it up with Surly and Rivendell parts.  Over the years my bike preferences have trended towards increasingly wider tires and rims on all of my bikes, and the Krampus was my entry into the “plus” tire world (3” tire/50mm rim).  I originally built it for a ride on the Kokopelli Trail in CO/UT. Since then it has seen occasional trail duty in CO, NC, and AL. It is set up for bikepacking duty with the Jones Loop Hbars, fork (with accommodations for racks, fenders, and 2 sets of cage mounts), friction shifting, and mechanical disc brakes.  It's a lot of bike and a lot of fun. I’m replacing it with a new Krampus, but size medium. The bike is in overall great shape and has been well maintained. There are no dents or dings. Original, color matched fork (with uncut steerer) included.

Pictures here.

More info on frame here and sizing here.

Xtracycle Free Radical and loads of add ons - $500

This thing is great.  I built it up around an old Univega mtn bike frame and all the components off my old Atlantis.  The Free Radical turns just about any bike frame into a cargo longbike and is designed to be used with 26” wheels and canti or v-brakes.  Installation is easy and straightforward; you have to lengthen the chain, rear derailer cable and housing, and rear brake cable and housing.  I carried my son in a Yepp Maxi child seat (also for sale) when he was smaller (it attaches directly to the Xtracycle deck) and as he grew I added the Hooptie armrests, Utube footrests, and padded Magic Carpet deck cover.   I would like to sell this as a complete package. Xtracycle doesn’t make the Free Radical Kit any more. They have replaced it with The Leap, which is a disc brake model adaptable to various wheel sizes. I have owned the Free Radical for years, but the other attachments were all bought new within the last year or so.  My price for this whole package is less than just the Leap by itself costs. Includes:

Free Radical Kit - the assembly that attaches to your bike and moves the rear wheel aft 18”

Utubes - bottom, horizontal tubes for supporting cargo or riders’ feet (removable)

Kickback - spring action, double-legged kickstand, awesome

Flight deck - top deck; direct attachment for Yepp Maxi child seat

Hooptie LT2 - these are the top horizontal tubes that act as arm rests for small passengers (removalbe)

Magic Carpet - fanny cushion that attaches to the Flight Deck

Cargo bike bags

Bicycle not included.

Pictures here.

More Xtracycle info here and here and here.

CycleTote Bicycle Trailer - $200

MUSA (Fort Collins, CO) bicycle trailer. Small Trailer with the full kit for both the Child Trailer (seats 1 in the middle or 2 side-by-side) and the Dog Trailer.  I wanted one of these for years and finally got the Small Dog Trailer while living in Denver to haul my dog around. It’s a wonderfully rolling trailer, well balanced, and attaches to the seatpost of the bike, thus preventing the wag-the-dog effect I’ve experienced with some axle mounted trailers.  After our son was born, I bought the conversion kit for the Child Trailer so my wife could pull him around on her Rivendell Betty Foy. I will include all the components for both the Dog and Child Trailer setups (bug screens, rain screens, etc). It has 700c wheels with quick releases. CycleTote offers great customer service, as well.  It would make more sense to sell this locally, but Huntsville is just not much of a bike town, so I've priced it low in hopes that someone who needs/wants a Cycletote will give it another life. I’ve priced this at ⅓ of the retail price for just one of the trailers and you get both for that price.

Pictures here.

Has to be the best all time FS ad I've ever seen. All the details you would need in a smart succinct package. Kudos to you Jay, and good luck with the sales and the move.

Just here to plug the Bleriot as a great ride because I've seen it gets disparaged around here sometimes. Mine is my second Riv, first 650b and is built very similarly to Jay's, sans dyno. That's a great deal for a bike that ticks just about every spec box for most Riv/iBoB-ers, with some extra nice stuff tacked on. Someone buy it!

Jay: I wish I rode your size and had the money for more bikes. Pray, why the sale of so many at once? The $900 Quickbeam is particularly notable.

I agree with Marty. Best ad I’ve ever seen for bikes in any list/serve ever.

I don’t know why the Bleriots get panned, but that would be my first choice here.

Wow. Just in time for the gifting (ease of rationalization) season too. That is the best FS list/ad to date. Anyone that fits those sizes just got a letter form Santa.

Being of a larger size assures I don't have remorse for my winter project as I get it going with deals like this being offered.

As everyone says - you've just created the template for The Perfect FS Post.
I've really been enjoying your photography and bike builds. Just beautiful. "Oh, that's really pretty, with that Dura Ace crank. And the SON! And..."

I just have one question - what AREN'T you selling? What are you keeping for after the move? Or are you going to build up something new?

I appreciate all the interest in the bikes.  2 are headed to new homes this week.

Several of you have asked about the big sell off.  There is no emergency on my end, but rather just a desire to simplify things a bit more.  I still love riding and working on bikes as much as I always have.  We are keeping my wife's Betty Foy, and I'm building up the beater Univega from the Xtracycle build with parts off my old Atlantis, my Sackville large Saddlesack, and a new CETMA rack for urban transport duty in the meantime.  After getting settled in Austin, I'll likely build up something that suits my needs there.  I miss my Atlantis, and I like the new updated ones Riv has now, so we'll see.
