At least, in this colder weather, I am pretty sure I can feel it "breathing" through the 3 holes in my B17 saddle.
Maybe this is what they mean by "breathing".
Grant wrote that he puckered up and blew on a saddle and couldn't feel any air go through.
But perhaps Brooks means the air passes through the three holes of the B17?

Yes, leather breathes !   It is animal skin after all .  it allows for moisture to flow through it and heat dissipate. If it didn't an animal would be "sealed" in their skin , so to speak .. lol.

Leather is animal skin, yes. But the tanning process (Tannins bind to the collagen proteins in the hide and coat them causing them to become less water-soluble, and more resistant to bacterial attack.*) heating, stretching, shaping the skin into the shape of a saddle, then several ounces of waterproof goop applied to the surface and rubbed in, have combined to make your Brooks saddle nearly as inert and impermeable to air as any number of unnamed vinyl saddles. That's not to say that Brooks aren't great saddles for their intended uses. But to say they "breathe" defies logic.

That's okay Ron ...lol.... I AM not a "logical" person !    Imagination begets logic ... as there is no "logic" without imagining something as "logical" ;-)

Judging by my chilly buns this morning, they might breathe a little too well!
