46396EC7-2C3E-402A-830B-899C423E5EE1.jpegGreetings.

I received an email out of the blue this morning from someone calling himself Ian Chokes offering to sell me a 54cm Hunqapillar,  no doubt in response to occasional WTB messages that I've posted on the RBW forum.  Unfortunately, a quick Google image search revealed that all the photos he sent me were cut and pasted from messages about another Hunq that sold on this forum back in 2017; he didn't even bother to edit the lengthy description from the originals.  I've attached one of the photos below.

This FYI in case he (she, they, etc.) approaches others on the forum with a similar offer.

Best regards,
Kevin L.

This is 100% the photo of the Hunqapillar I purchased from this forum back in 2017!

Hi Irving.
Just to close the loop, do you still have that Hunqapillar?  The likely-scammer saw my post shortly after I put it up on the forum and has threatened legal action if I don't take it down.
All the best,
Kevin

My friend facilitated this Hunqapillar purchase for me at the end of 2017 and picked it up from the San Diego area and brought it to the Bay Area. I modified the bicycle and swapped out most of the parts from 2017 to 2024. I sold this bicycle to a friend of a friend in Los Angeles, and as far as I know, this person still has that bike.

Mr. Legal Action can provide current pics of the bike, then apologize for bothering you with someone else's pics from 9 years ago. Easy.

I told him I'd take it down if he could provide any photos not included in the 2017 string.  I got one more threatening email from him (with no additional photos), then silence.  I've notified the RBW moderator, but consider the issue closed.
All the best,
Kevin

Just to put the ol' admin hat on and reinforce Kevin's statement.

- there is no one under that name currently registered on this group.
- there is absolutely no record of anyone using that name or email having posted to this group.

Which is why every month or so, I try to remind folks that the simplest litmus test of whether someone selling something is a scammer is to

1 - Search for them in the members listing by email (you must be a registered member to do this).
2 - Search for any prior posts from them to the group at large.

If they are not active members and have no history of posting, I would assume that it is a scam and ignore them and block the email.

Hope everyone got a nice ride in this weekend!
