Anyone bought one yet and/or laid their hands on one whilst visiting RWHQ?  Especially interested in a comparison to the GrabSack. I have a GrabSack and overall I like it; however I have a few issues/questions:

First, on the GrabSack I don't feel good about how the lid meets the body.  There's a bit of a gap at the corners so it's not a secure feeling.  Looks different on the Jumbo Grabby.  Comments?

Second, on the GrabSack the strap is about an inch wide (same as the ShopSack, which I am 150% in love with and use just about everyday).  Jumbo shoulder strap looks wide ad perhaps thicker, which would be more comfortable.  Comments?

I suppose I should send this one to Riv directly, but anyone know its dimensions?

Thanks in advance.  Gotta put in my Riv christmas order this week!  your pal, liesl

I poked around at the Jumbo Grabby on my last visit to RBWHQ.  I have a grabsack that I'm totally OK with, so it was just a few glances.  Jumbo Grabby struck me as substantially more "refined".  It's definitely bigger.  I bet you'll love it, and you'll find a friend who will love your grabsack as a hand-me-down.  It'll be great.  Go ahead and buy one.

I know this gap you speak of. I bought the Grabsack a week or two ago and have been using it as a cross body purse. I love it. But I did NOT love that gap. If you open the flap, you'll see the bungee cord is knotted. If you make another knot to shorten the bungee cord, the gap disappears! This will render your Grabsack the perfect bag. Easy peasy.

To date, the original GrabSack is the only RBW bag I never loved. Closure, size, hang, strappage... all were just off for me.

Jumbo Grabby looks much more appealing. I'll probably plunk down for one at some point. i'm still not sure about the new brown, though. I love the tan, like the olive, and would be interested in a seeing a tweed. Now, what I'd really love is a burgundy with canvas straps!

Jumbo Grabby is on its way as a household christmas present that either of us can use.  Will report back when its in my little squirrel paws.

Liesl,

Any more thoughts on the jumbo grabby? I have one on the way as well.

Here's the update, Dan and friends!  It's a really nice bag.  Dimensions are 15" wide by a very flexible 12" tall with a depth of 4".  Inside sleeve running across the back is rust colored fabric so nice and visible; zipper on the outside envelope pocket is hearty.  Shoulder strap is the same material as the Shopsack handles but 1.5" wide.  The angled side wall up to the flap inspire far more closure-confidence than the original Grabsack.  13" MacBook Air fits like a charm in the inside packet but is about 2" taller than the sleeve.  A potential hack would be to put a center strap running from the top center of back to the top center of the sleeve to keep a computer from tipping forward—but not a big issue.  Lots of real estate for patches; the Rivelo patch will be smashing on it.  It hangs nicely on a person's body; well, at least my body at 5'2" and erin's body at 5'10".

We've been busy putting up a yurt (!) in the back yard for a winter craft and camp-out spot, so haven't really used the bag out and about yet.

I'll be interested in your report, Dan!

yours,
Liesl

I am not as happy with the bag as you Liesl, it has one critical flaw -- the shoulder straps slip a lot.  Any weight in the bag and they slip, I have tried various threading and hacks and while some help they still slip.  While the quality and size of the bag other than the straps is great, the straps are a killer for me - they thread through plastic that just doesn't grip -- metal would have been much nicer.

Considering this piece for my every day carry, so I'm resurrecting this thread to solicit any more feedback from folks have after used the ole jumbo grabby.  Thanks for all the reporting thus far.  Seems like it's fairly split between works good enough for me to a slipping shoulder strap is a deal breaker.  Pics and poetic waxings of beausage welcome, as are screeds re: where it's missed the mark.

Best,
Adama
