The Simplex Retrofriction shifters are sweet.  Best looking shifter ever, IMO.  Better shifting action than Campy Record back in the day.

I recommend a pic and description of the Mavic hubs. I assume freehub 8/9/10-speed and 130 spacing?

Excellent question/reminder Joe! 
The Mavic hubs are set up for 10 speed. I believe they are 130 spacing. I will double check this. 
They were formally on my Protovelo:
