I'm planning a build for my newly acquired Platypus frame (50cm) and am looking for advice regarding the Shimano Deore V-brakes RBW carries. My plan is to run 38-42mm slicks beneath 52mm aluminum fenders (probably VO Zeppelins).

Judging from the pics of fendered Platys I've viewed (and the specs I've been able to find) the Deore brake linkage should provide clearance for 52s.
I'm hoping someone with experience with a Platy will be able to confirm my thinking.

I considered going with cantis but would prefer the simpler set-up of V-brakes. Does anyone advocate for cantis?

Thanks, Steve

Steve - my Platy has V-brakes with 63mm fenders over 50mm tires and no issues with clearance. I'm using Diacompe MX2 brakes (102mm arms) and given that Shimano lists the Deore arms at 107mm and the clearance shown with the Deore's on Grant's Clem with 2.6" tires I'd expect room to spare.

Here's the MX2 with a very tall RH Fleecer Ridge 55mm tire before fenders (I changed the front to 50mm Gravel King when I added fenders):

Looking forward to seeing your Platypus!

Thanks Dave!  Deore it is then!
I'll be posting pics probably as soon as I get it on the road. I love an excuse to take glamour shots of my bikes in the wild (it gives me a reason to dismount and rest for a moment)
