Hey!

Considering a 1x set up on my Appaloosa prototype. I’m wondering if I’ll still need to combine two chains when using a 1x with those long chainstays. Should be a 38 chainring with 11-42 cassette. Anyone have experience setting up something similar?

Thanks,
Tim

I bet you will need two chains. My Jones with a bit shorter chainstays, smaller ring, bigger cog, needed extra links.

My Clem H is running a 36 up front with a 12/34 out back. Needed extra links to work. I too thought I could do it but one chain was not quite enough. My stays may be longer than yours though. I also had to swap in a longer tray on my fork mount roof rack. Good thing I had a spare from an upright mount. Worked out well. Transporting these long bikes can be a challenge.
