Hi everyone,

I bought this frame from Riv in 2023 and I was in between sizes. My PBH is 91 and my saddle sits right around 80cm or 31.5". My initial plan was to ride this bike with drops, which I did for a while, but as of late I've been really enjoying swept back bars and this frame feels a tad small for me.

I currently have a 130cm stem and some billie bars on the bike. The Billie bars sweep back quite a lot, so I've ordered some Albatross bars to hopefully remedy the tight cockpit feeling I currently have.

With that being, I'm very interested in trying a 60cm Hillborne with the Albatross bars. If you have a 60cm Hillborne frame that you want to sell or trade, let me know!

Hey Shane, I went through an extremely similar experience with my mid 2010s 58cm Hillborne. My goal was for a nice upright commuter, but I was feeling cramped. There was a lot of seatpost showing that was the first giveaway about it being small. Here's how it looked before I started messing around with things – I also have a 91 PBH and the saddle is at 80 cm here.

This is a 90cm Stem with Albatross bars. I tried going to a 12cm stem and it helped, but it was still a little tight. Trying drops, I had to get the stem way up high to be comfy. That meant a ton of seatpost and a ton of stem sticking out.

I eventually sold it and got a bigger frame to ride more upright with. It was the better solution for me, but your planned bar change should help you stretch out a little.
Good luck trying the Albatross bars, they are fun!

Hey Jeff,

It looks like we have very similar measurements! It's good to know that you made the switch to a larger frame and don't regret it.

I'm looking forward to trying the Albatross bar on my 57, but ultimately I know I'm still going to be looking for a 60cm because of how much seat post I have showing.

Thanks for the reassurance and for the photo.

If you are willing to buy new, Blue Lug still has 60cm Sam Hillborne framesets in both silver and olive-green. The price is $1560 plus shipping. I purchased a Platypus frameset from them and shipping was $175 to Eugene Oregon.
