Earlier today, I went on a 15.4 mile bike ride. The weather was perfect, overcast and rather cool in the high 60's to start. The day topped off in around 74 degrees with lovelysunshine.
I finished installing my Paul Components Neo-Retro silver polished cantilever brakeset and levers here the other day. I was ready to do my first road test with them. These are my first major purchase from Paul Components.
Additionally, I cleaned both sidewalls of my wheelset and Kool-Stop Ebike brake pads with lacquer thinner.
My previous brakeset and levers were Dia Compe 980 cantilevers SS6 levers of which has performed very well over the course the last six years.
My conclusion upon my return home is that the Paul Components levers and brakeset are very superior in stopping power and feel very solid under my fingers. There was no squealing noise to be heard whatsoever.
I did discover that the spring design of these Neo-Retro cantilever brakes is comparatively different from all of the other cantilever brake brands that I have owned in the past. The Paul's are integrated into the cantilever arms not separate. Quite unique I would say. They are very lightweight as well.
Happy !
