Did any other BOBs or RBW members make it out for the 2025 Dairy Roubaix near Viroqua, WI this past weekend? It was a great weekend for it, little chilly in the morning, but warmed up nicely. There were three different routes to choose from, 40m, 70m, 110m. I chose the 40 mile and had a blast riding my 650b Fitz Rando. Being the "Dairy Roubaix" I expected to see at least one or two other rando bikes out there, but didn't see any others. I was definitely in the minority with my rim brakes and fenders, and more than once playfully heckled for them. I saw one drop-bar Atlantis and a mustached Trek 970, which made me want to try this next year with an albastache.
The ride is about 75% gravel, nice smooth country road gravel. I took it quite slow, brought plenty of snacks/coffee and enjoyed the scenery. I think I was passed by only one or two cars the entire ride. It passes by some very nice little streams, which made me want to pack my tenkara rod for next year. The 70 and 110 mile routes pass through Viroqua, which give an opportunity for stopping at Wonderstate Coffee for a mid-ride coffee and scone.
It's hosted out of the Sugar Creek Bible Camp with rentable cabins and ample space to come in and bring a tent for the night/weekend. Definitely worth traveling for from out of state. It took me about 3.5 hours to drive from Minneapolis. There was free beer, a pizza truck, and a local high school org serving tacos out of the main cabin. Put it on your calendars for next year!
