Out on Joe Blue, now new and improved with a Carradice and that old Nitto support rack Riv used to sell. It's hard to put into words how fabulous this bike is. It sings up hills, tracks straight and true down the other side, floats over bumps with those cushy tires and long stays, and look at that fork crown! Truly a lovely bicycle in every way.

What a sweetie! Maybe my fav JoeAppa that I've seen yet.
Is the is first pic somehow stretched or is the bike just simply, fantastically long?

Kieran, it is indeed a long bike. The sense that the seattube is right in the center of the frame contributes to the visual, plus I think the dropbars elongate it. You're used to seeing Appas with reachback bars, which tend to shorten up the space above the toptube.

I'm really glad I popped for the extra cash instead of sticking with my mustard Clem order. They're both great bikes, but it was love at first sight when I saw that blue frame with the green-wrapped Noodles. It had my name on it. Literally!

Joe Blue is gorgeous! That is a great color, and I am glad it rides so well.

Joe, do you know if your Joe is the same color as the more recent Clem Smith Jr. blue? I've waffled between the blue and dk mustard for my L-style Clem pre-order. If the Clem blue is as pretty in person as you make the Joe blue sound, I might have to see if I can still change my order!

I've seen both live in color, and my impression is that the Clem blue is ever so slightly darker than Appa, but it's close enough that it could be a trick of light, or even that Clem doesn't have a contrasting headtube. It's definitely close enough to say I'd buy it..the blue Clem is gorgeous.

That's helpful, Joe, especially since (if I remember correctly) you (like me) had picked out the dark mustard Clem.  I've put in a request to change my pre-order back to the blue.  I can hardly wait to see it in person and to get my feet on the pedals!  Glad you are so happy with your Appaloosa.

Linda, I was there yesterday, and I'm still sold on the blue. I looked at the mustard Appa and it's gorgeous, but this confirmed my sense that light blue has more "stay" with me..that I will still love it years from now.

I went through this process when I bought my FIAT Abarth three years ago. I liked black w/red, but I kept looking at white w/ red, too. I almost popped for that, then I took another hard look at the black and asked myself what would be a better fit for me, day in and day out. Black w/ red it was, and I'm always happy with it. It's more "me". Enjoy your Clem!

Rich, in my days of derailer snobbery I would have scoffed at Claris' grey, blocky not-expensive-ness. No more..Joe Blue came set up this way and shifts flawlessly and I like it!

Ha! Ha! I'm with you. Good to know it works well. Thanks for the feedback. Have fun on your horse!

Best,
Richard
