I have no part in this sale, but there is a Rivendell All-Rounder for sale near Chicago.  If it was a 58-60cm frame, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, but 55 is way too small for me.

Cheers,
Matt

Beautiful. I'd think of selling my beloved canti Sam to buy it, but alas, too small for me as well.

People crack me up. It's dusty but he doesn't want to mess with it. Okay....

It's nice, but hoo boy that dark teal color is hard to look at now. I saw a same-vintage 996 Porsche the other day with that hue and my first thought was "I wonder how hard that thing was to sell."

Judging from the space between the top tube and the down tube at the head tube, I would have guessed this to be a bigger frame. It could be that the combination of extended head tube and 26" wheels contributes to the illusion. I guess really hard to tell from photos, but here is an Atlantis that was linked in another post and is listed at 61cm:

And here is the 55.5 (so precise!) All Rounder:

Even if the tubing on the Atlantis is a bit more OS, that's a lot of optical illusion going on. At the least, I would guess one is being measured c-c, the other c-t?

I think it's the skinny tires creating the illusion that those are 700c wheels, which makes the frameset look huge.  Or maybe the skinny tires create the illusion because we are used to seeing the 56 Atlantis with fatter tires.  The overall proportions are very similar to a 56cm Atlantis, a bike I've spent hours drooling over.

Here is a photo of a 56cm Atlantis with Compass 44mm tires and it also looks larger than it's size.

That Atlantis comparative dimensions look just about right for a 55 cm (c-c) All Rounder, if you were to multiply it, so to speak, by 0.9. 559 wheels are 2 1/2" shorter than 700C wheels. My 57 and 58 26" wheel Riv Roads with slightly sloping tts have considerably longer head tubes than this Atlantis.

Someone saw my 54 or 55 cm custom 26" wheel road, built around the AR idea but roadie-tweaked, the first of 3 and the one I sold, and with 559 X 1" tires (24" diameter) and said, "Man, that's a big frame!"

The smaller of the 2 remaining ones:

Here is a picture of my 56cm Atlantis and I agree the AR looks a bit bigger. Maybe 55.5 CtC?

Looks like the AR is sold as it has disappeared.

To continue our sizing discussion here is my 56 Rambouillet. As you can see even with the same size frame and upslope, the shorter fork on the Atlantis makes the head tube much longer.

The All-Arounder certainly looks larger than my 56 Homer.

"And here is the 55.5 (so precise!) All Rounder:"

RBW has in the past used non rounded numbers for sizes. The Nifty Swifty /Maxy Fasty Tires are labeled as "32.8" /"33.4mm or so". My '95 Road (pre- road standard) is 54.5.
