Best GPS for Android?

Thinking of joining the 21st century and learning how to use a GPS app downloaded to my Samsung S3. Main use would be odometer, speedometer, basic navigation and maybe altitude. What current recommendations have you for free or low-cost apps that are easy to operate?

I've been happy with Ride w/ GPS. Does the tracking you desire for a few bucks a month and you can search for rides in your area that others have created ( or create your own) with turn by turn queues.
