Hello,

Looking to run either old Suntour or new Riv thumb shifters on the inside of the bar. Wondering what v brake levers will have clamps that clear the shifters without having to flip them inside out? Hopefully that makes sense. Thanks!

In addition to the Pauls, the IRD Cafam should clear too.

I was worried Paul was going to be the answer to this question! Way too pricey for the build I'm working on. IRD aren't cheap, but seem nice. Maybe I can find a used pair.

Thanks!

Soma runs sales pretty frequently if you're not in a rush. Those IRD levers are typically <$100 on sale.

I run Origin8 DuoTrigger brake levers on a flipped shifter situation without issue.

Will keep an eye out for Soma sales, and the Origin8s are a great suggestion too. Thanks!

Velo Orange Gran Cru -- I've been pleased with the pair I mounted on Billie bars with Silver thumb shifters.

Pardon the fuzzy image - hopefully it'll give you an idea of how they look with the shifters.

I use a pair of deore xt levers with thumb shifters. You can probably find a used pair easily.

Avid levers have the clamp on the top, work well and are quite affordable.

+1 for the Avids. FR5 or FR7. Low profile and work great.
Also, Dia Compe "Diatech" Mk2 are great too. And can be run with Vs or cantis.

Cheers,

John

-1 for the Avids.

I find the clamping bolt location on the outer part of the band is really uncomfortable when I grab that part of the lever body. They’re OK on a normal flat bar, where you don’t grab the lever body, but I never use them on sweepy bars.

A lot of plain Jane Shimano or Asia Compe levers will work fine on this application.
