Greetings,

For your consideration is a 1996 (I believe) Riv Road “Nonstandard.”  Like many of you, I like to tinker with Rivs, and I acquired this frameset in its present condition for that reason.  It also had some nice bits that I am using on my SimpleOne.  But, it’s time to let this frameset go to someone who will put it on the road.  Every time I look at it, I start waffling on a sale; but, I’d ultimately like to sell this and the SimpleOne if I can track down a 54.5 silver RoadUno.

The prior/original owner had this Road modified to serve as a singlespeed.  In that process, the downtube shifter mounts, top tube cable guides, and derailleur hanger were removed.  So, it’s really set up to be a front brake single-speed.  It has also been repainted in reddish brown.  There are paint blemishes: the most significant are on the chainstay and bottom bracket shell.  Pics are available here and are representative of actual condition.  Offered as frame and fork only; however, we can discuss a headset if that is a major issue.

Measurements:

Seat tube: 57cm center-to-center; 27.2mm seatpost

Top Tube: 57.5cm center-to-center

Spacing: 100mm (front), 130mm (rear)

Price is $675.00 plus shipping.  Happy to deliver within an hour or so.

Please send an email if you are interested and thanks for looking.

I don't see a serial number on the BB. Any idea who built this one? Also not aware Riv used tubing decals early on. I could be wrong on that. I did the same mods on an old Proteus frame I set up as a single speed. Makes for a fun, simple rig. Good luck with the sale.

Marty,

The bottom bracket shell is stamped "Everest."  Admittedly, that was a new one for me; however, I searched through the archives before posting, and there is mention of an Everest shell on some Road Standards of similar vintage.  Suggestions of Waterford, but I can't confirm.  As for the decals, they may have been added when the frame was repainted.  But, I did previously have a Road Standard with decals.

I've had some questions about tire clearance and added a pic to the album that features a 32mm Stampede Pass mounted to a TB14.  I wouldn't personally attempt to ride on anything bigger than that.

They did up to 1998 when Waterford was their builder
