Crap, a 68cm Rambouillet Renovelo. Oh well. You can't have em all... I
guess.

Just do it!!!  Serious, w/out knowing your finances, where else will you get a bike like that in your size at this price?

:-)

This whole Renovelo could be bad news for my kid's college savings...

Earlier this morning there was a 64cm former Atlantis. Did that also
already get snapped up?

This single speed is the deal of the century at $1300.

Everyone knows that average sized people never crash their bikes, so
they never need repairing, so there will never be a 59cm Renovelo.
Only the freakishly tall and freakishly small are awkward enough to
break a Rivendell.

OK, just kidding.

Agreed, good thing it's too small, not my color, and I am too portly.
'cause man, I dig that frame...

Such a good thing that it's too small for me.
The Renovelos are a lot cheaper than I expected them to be...
especially That One.

Hmm, "That One" is just my size. Would make a sweet trail bike. So
tempting at that price!

Had I known they'd be selling the Renovelos at such give-away prices I
might have held off buying my Sam. Now the only alternative is to try
and snatch one up anyway. These things aren't going to gather any
dust in the RivShop. Kinda like unsold inventory of Acorn bags. It's
probably not GP's style, but I think they'd haul in alot more cash if
they'd put them up on eBay in ten-day auctions.

....and the listing for THE ONE is now gone. Best of luck to the
lucky individual that bought it.

Y'know... I can see Rivendell not getting into that with someone who
didn't know. :^)

I thought about that bike for a minute on todays ride up the logging
roads. The Bontrager was in fine form, though, and all the internet
covetousness went out the window. Nothing like a dog and a bike and an
afternoon to remind you that you actually have it pretty good.

Yup, as of 5:00pm Friday it was sold. I agonized over it alll day
Saturday and was somewhat relieved to find out it was no longer
available. The last thing I need is another bike, but that one really
called out to me.

I wonder if a Rivendell production fixed gear super-light mountain
bike would sell, or if the appeal of that frame was its uniqueness?
It seems like most of the people here who wanted it were relieved when
they couldn't have it.

Took my superlight rigid fixed gear bike with only a front cantilever
brake out this morning for a ride off road and was reminded how much I
REALLY like riding off road fixed. Smashed it through a few rock
gardens and basically abused the bike around the local trail... It was
a wonderful and child-like experience. I am thankful that THE ONE was
too small. I could see myself requesting such a creature to be made
as a custom, but doubt that the request would be filled given the
experience that Grand and crew went through the first time 'round.

I loved the way it looked and it was my size but I learned from my time owning a Rawland Olaf that singlespeed, rigid mountain bikes weren't my thing...my 650b Quickbeam set up as an all'rounder suits me better.  If I hadn't gotten the QB though, I'dve been sorely tempted.

I'm way to big and heavy for that frame, but it looked like my ideal
offroad bike frame. A happy crossbreeding of my two favorite bikes: my
Quickbeam, and my Bontrager Privateer. I ride them both in the same
woods, and in some situations the fixed Quickbeam has more control
than the geared Bontrager.

If I were to ever get a custom Rivendell, it would be similar to the
revised Renovelo version, with flared drop bars. I prefer two brakes
for symmetry, but using the rear in the dirt feels weird.
