I was looking for reviews of the Roadeo and came across this:

Note the aluminum, compact frame, disc and rim brakes, suspension, performance on rugged trails, and $899 price.

What is this?

BTW, I don’t see the Roadeo offered on the Riv site any more.

The company is real (link below for the curious), the web site the review is posted on appears to be legitimate. A product search on the company's website for Rivendell Roadeo came up empty handed (no surprise). The whole thing has the trappings of an April Fool's Joke.  It strikes me as a bit too humorous for AI - definitely good for a few chuckles.

The Roadeo reached 'special order custom, pick your color' status some years ago, I don't think Riv takes custom orders anymore.

Joe...you may indeed have one of the last  customs which you offered for sale but now I think decided to keep...

I remember seeing the Roadeo on Rivbike a few weeks ago....but yes,Patrick is correct...Roadeo no mas, alas. A search only returned some blog entries  of some nice builds, but that's it.

Ryan,

Yes I had it up for sale for a short time last Summer, also known as Joe's Summer of Madness when I thought I was going to sell a really nice bike and get a motorcycle. These things did not happen!

Despite what we know about Old Man Petersen's view of disc brakes, the "belt AND suspenders" braking system that XJD describes does have a certain practicality to it if you ignore the fact that you'd need 4 brake levers:

"🛠️ Braking System

Safety is paramount when it comes to cycling, and the Rivendell Roadeo bike does not compromise in this area. It features a dual braking system that includes both disc and rim brakes. This combination ensures optimal stopping power in various weather conditions, providing riders with confidence and control."

Pretty rad stuff!

I wouldn't buy anything from this site. On the toddler slide, one of the FAQs is "can you wear helmets in division 1?" (screenshot attached). At the bottom of the "Rivendell Roadeo made by XJD" review there are links to other, similarly fake, reviews. I assume those pages are all churned out by a chatbot subscription and then heavily internally cross-linked for SEO purposes. I'm sure they'll send you something when you pay for your toddler slide, but when it breaks or doesn't fit together I doubt you'll get much out of your warranty claim or money back guarantee....

That's my guess anyway. Retain hope ye who enter there.
