Hello hello,

Yes, I am selling my Platypus, only because the circumstances of my life has changed dramatically since first building it. My apartment and business were burned by the LA fires last year, and my new living situation has me locking up my bikes in a street accessible garage. Fret not, as I have replaced the Platypus with an extremely budget Rosco Bubbe build, also 55cm, also Ana Purple (more on that in another thread soon).

With that, consider this frameset broken in. It has a handful of paint chips like any bicycle that's been ridden for 2 years, no damage or dents in any tubing, has been generously sprayed inside with Frame Saver (frame + fork) about 1.5 years ago, and contains the common paint chips around drop outs and rack/fender bosses that have been used.

It has been the best bicycle I have ever owned, and permanently changed my outlook on bike riding as a whole for the better.

Included with the frame and fork are:
  • A Shimano Dura-Ace HP-7410 headset (NOS when installed) with Blue Lug purple/brass alternating spacers (brass is oxidized)
  • A Nitto S65 26.8mm seatpost - mild scratches from setting up and down
  • A set of perfectly fitted Honjo hammered and polished fenders with PNW safety tabs up front, and custom length spacers labeled for each mounting point for a classic french fit. Clears a 48mm slick with appropriate clearance.
  • A standard Shimano UN-300 bottom bracket, 113mm length
  • An unopened bottle of Ana Purple touch up paint, from the same batch these were built
Price for all of the above is $1650. I would love to give a better deal, but unfortunately not in a position to do so, as I am getting my Master's and minimizing as much debt as possible.

Local pick-up is preferred in Santa Monica, CA, but shipping is available with the cost of my LBS's labor to box it along with a bikeflights label. Will be shipped in a Rivendell frameset box with ample packaging, and the seat tube plug to protect the pointed lug.

Lastly, I am putting together a significant parts bin clearing that I will post soon, but will give first dibs to the buyer privately. You can see my original build thread for this frame here: https://groups.google.com/g/rbw-owners-bunch/c/gOS2Zt9GLJo

Any questions, let me know. Thank you!
Armand

A friend has the same Rosco and really digs it. If the stem from your Platypus didn't migrate over to the Rosco and the buyer of the Platypus doesn't want it, I could be interested.
