I sold this on the forum and bought it back recently as a frameset. I excitedly gathered nice parts (White Industries/Nitto/Velo Orange/Blue Lug), bought a single speed wheelset, and built it up only to remember it does not fit me well. My ideal scenario is trading for a 56cm Simple One/Quickbeam or 54.5 Roaduno. But will sell if I can’t find one. No shipping for now, local deals only please.

-54cm quickbeam frameset, beausage but no dents
-White Industries freewheel
-Quando hubs laced to wide aluminum rims, Jack Brown tires
-Nitto seatpost
-Velo orange fenders without hardware
-Albatross-style bars from Public
-Ultegra crankset with new single speed bolts and chain
-Nice brass details like housing stops and headset spacers from Blue Lug
-Tektro v brakes, new Koolstops in front

I also have a Phil Wood hub and losco bars I can include for a good deal.

$1,250

Will ship for $150. And I can include Compass 700x32s with the build. Loscos and Phil/Surly rear hubs also available.

How about $1,100 without fenders and I'd replace the White Industries freewheel with a generic one.

$1,050 with White industries freewheel
$1,000 with generic freewheel
+$150 for shipping in CONUS

I'd like to keep the fenders for another project.

Everyone should try a single speed, everyone should try a Rivendell, why not both?

I can’t believe this hasn’t sold. It’s my size and not far from me, but not in the budget right now. Maybe a few more pics would help?

Liz,

I think it's just a tough market right now. I keep an eye on Rivs and Bromptons for sale on California Bay Area Craigslist, everything there sits for ages at what I think are fair prices. This Quickbeam is sweet and my size, too..I don't have the cash either!

It’s a shame that a Rivendell model that used to command premium prices is going begging.

Yes, everyone should at least try a Rivendell single speed; even better if it’s fixed. I’ve owned 3 (built fixed or builder-converted to fixed) and many other fixed and fw single speeds; fixed riding is my favorite kind of riding.

Paradoxically, I’d be interested in Chris’s frame if it were a 58 (I think that was my size) to make a multispeed freewheel road bike with a Rohloff or one of the better Shimano 8 or 11 speed IGHs — this to augment my stable of 2 fixed gear road bikes and derailleur fat tire off road bike.

I cannot believe the FUN I'm having on my recently acquired Quickbeam. Worth every cent and I paid significantly more than this one is listed for.

I picked up my orange 54cm Quickbeam a couple years ago, made a few modifications, and it has consistently been my favorite bike to ride. I've got 2 singlespeeds, including the QB, and a fixie, with a 3rd SS (Crust Lightning Bolt) sadly still in the box waiting in the bike project queue. Still, I'll admit to the temptation to add a 2nd Quickbeam. One fixed and one free, or one dropbar and one flat bar, or...
If anyone is still on the fence about this, just do it.
If it doesn't work out for you, there's always this list ;-)
Pictures of my QB at PDX Coffee Outside yesterday.
