Hey all -

Thanks for the emails regarding the sluggardly performance of some recent post attempts.  It appears, that as google continues to upgrade the groups interface, they now no longer allow me to review/pass through posts via email.  So, they were piling up without me getting any notice of it.   Maybe not - there might just be some new switch I have to throw.

But, I cannot give it my full attention until the end of this month, so there may be a few more herky-jerky moments in posts not showing up. 

Anyway, just let a whole slug through today (1/17, am) so if you don't see yours, it won't appear.

So, do I understand that you are individually moderating every single
post that every subscriber makes to the list?

No.

Only three types of posts end up in moderation.

1 - New members are moderated until they join in the discussion and have a little bit of a track record.

2 - Google is reasonably capricious in the manner that potential posts from all members get periodically flagged as spam.  They have added tools so I can (supposedly) flag certain users as "always ok", but that tends to work about half the time in my experience.  Multiple posts in a short period of time seem to make this worse. So, the worst thing you can do is start firing off follow-up posts that are the same one you made, but didn't see.

3 - the spam attempts by all sorts of nefarious companies and individuals.

Normally, I have time to run through moderated posts on a daily basis, but my work schedule of late has not allowed it.  As I've posted previously, this should ease up after the end of the month.
