I had a link for a website that sold imitation twine, but I misplaced it in my bookmarks.

Is there a specific type or brand that excels better than the other is in being durable in all sorts of weather ?

Thank-you,
Kim Hetzel

Hello Kim,
I have navigated away from using hemp twine.  Take a look at the Maine Thread site (https://mainethread.com/).  Maine Thread offers a variety of threads, cords and twine in a spectrum of colors, diameters and materials.  They even have a raspberry for those folks that have a raspberry color scheme.
I went with the braided cotton with a 1.5 mm diameter.  After two months of riding with the braided cotton I see little wear.  Haven't yet applyed shellac.

Maine Thread ticks several boxes for me.

Peace,
Curtis in El Cajon

Hi Eliot,

I'm not into shellacking at this time.
I am using the Campandgoslow Western Rattlesnake handlebar tape. I want to find the appropriate twine and be finished with it.

Thank you for asking.

Hi Kim — Not sure where they came from but Trevor here on the board recently sent me a twine sampler with gray, yellow, blue, red and green twine.

The Maine Thread link from Curtis looks great. This is my kind of vendor and I can see myself purchasing from them soon (and then repeatedly in the future!). Thanks for the link, Curtis. Really love this kind of place.

Just my two centimes: I think that standard hemp twine in the neutral, subdued brown-tan color would look nice with your Campandgoslow tape. If you're worried about it wearing out I think it would last at least several years and when it does wear out you can replace it at very low cost.

The Maine Thread website looks promising after Eric and Curtis suggesting it.

I am thinking the Burnt Orange Braided Waxed Cord would look good in picking up the oranges in the bar tape.

or the Topaz Gold Twisted Waxed Cord to pick up the orange clementine colors in my Naglene water bottles.

I thank-you all to Eric, Curtis and Johnny for your suggestions and others that have yet to suggest.

Soma Fab stocks Newbaum's twine in different colors.

They're also doing a 30% off of anything sale right now.

Best,
Kevin

Hey Curtis do you have a photo of your results with the 1.5 mm size?
