Hi -

I own two Quickbeams, one green and one orange.  Time to sell one as it doesn't get ridden and I need to make room.
The bike is pristine.  Details:
  • orange 64cm Quickbeam frame/fork
  • Rich Lesnik built wheels - 32 spoke, Phil Wood hubs, Velocity Synergy rims, fixed free flipflop rear w/ 16t fixed, and 16/18t White Industries Duo free
  • Panaracer Pasela 700x35 tires
  • Sugino triple crank with 34t, 40t, and chainguard
  • Brooks B17 honey saddle
  • Nitto technomic stem and noodle bars with shellac cloth tape to match saddle
  • Tektro cantilever brakes
  • Nitto front rack
Price = $1500 plus box and shipping (or pick up in Los Angeles).  Shipping to be arranged, probably via Bike Flights

Optional:
  • Crank Brothers Eggbeater pedals $20
  • Gilles Berthoud front and rear bags $300 as a set (incl. mount rack for rear)

No affiliation, but I want to plug this. I’ve only owned my QuickBeam for about two months, but I think I have more fun on it than almost any other bike I own. This is around what I paid for mine, and for me it was worth every penny. Of the three Rivendell’s I’ve owned (Atlantis, Hunq, and QB) it’s my favorite model, though that’s probably because it’s most suited to the vast majority of riding I currently do.

For sizing reference. I have a 90 PBH and could probably do a 62 or 64.

I'm pretty sure this one would have been labeled a 66cm originally, if it's 64 c-t-c.  Riv sizing is center to top.  Geometry chart is on cyclofiend's site here:  http://www.cyclofiend.com/Images/pdf/quickbeam_geometry.pdf

I have an original green QB and have coveted the orange. The 64cm would be at the tip top of my 89cm PBH threshold, but I will pass. QB/SO are fun, surprisingly versatile bikes. Recommended.

Noting Matt B’s view on whether this is a 64 or 66 in Riv’s sizing, would you mind measuring the standover height?

At the risk of getting myself into trouble, how would you feel about international shipping (to Australia)? Ruinously expensive, but needs must.

Cheers

Thank you, Matt B, for the link to the geometry chart.  This bike is a size 66.  I confirmed via top tube measurement, etc.

For reference, my PBH is around 93.  I ride with a saddle height of around 82 from the spindle center.  (The saddle is set right around 82 in the picture.)

If birdman or the lucky bike winner does not want the bags I will take them.

I am so excited about this bike. I love my Atlantis, but the Quickbeam is my favorite everyday bike!

I’ll be putting a gorgeous green 68cm Quickbeam (complete) up for sale this weekend...

Quick update to close this thread:  The bike and bags are spoken for.  The bike will enjoy a long life in the Pacific Northwest, while the bags head to the Great Lakes region.
I need to convince myself to sell another 6 bikes or so. I probably will not sell any other Rivendells, but a few of the bikes might be of interest nonetheless.
Most likely I will sell my Kogswell P/R and a Miyata 1000 (great classic touring bike, but I also own a Trek 720 of the same era).  The Miyata is set up in more of a randonneuse style, than touring.
Other bikes under consideration for sale include:
  • nice lugged Paramount with campy nuevo or super record group (don't recall which).  bike is disassembled.  I had planned to get the frame repainted and do a nice restoration.
  • new, never built up Soma Grand Randonneur frame
PM me if you have a particular interest in any of these bikes and want to know details.
